Nihil Eyes - Black Path

Kev Rowland

Nihil Eyes are a new band, formed in 2016 by lead vocalist/guitarist Casey Jones and drummer Szymon Ogiello, the duo was joined in early 2017 by bassist Max Morgan, and here they are with their debut album already. Mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö (Asphyx, Bloodbath, Incantation and too many others to mention), it is no surprise that the sound is spot on, while musically the mix of Carcass, Bolt Thrower and Paradise Lost is going to find them many fans. This is brutal British metal, taking influences from what has gone before and then building on that to create something that is raw, raucous, mixing death and grind with the odd bit of doom to show that they are following their own path, and a Black one at that.

This certainly doesn’t sound like the debut release of a band that only came together earlier this year, but rather as something that has been honed by years of playing together in every pub and dive in England. Brutal and uncompromising, witness ye the birth of a band that will go a long way in the extreme scene.
