Nitrogods - Roadkill BBQ

Kev Rowland

Apparently this German trio have been basically living on the road since their formation in 2011, and given how tight they are that certainly seems to be the case. This is their third album, and to the uninitiated they come across as Motörhead mixed with Status Quo, with elements of Rose Tattoo, WASP and Ted Nugent. To really show where their roots lie, it is also possible to get this album with a bonus disc that contains four Motörhead covers. This is good-time heavy metal that is designed for the concert hall, where I am sure these already good numbers get taken to a whole new level.

There are a few bands who have been looking to take on Lemmy’s mantel since his departure, and based on the evidence of this Nitrogods are as well placed as any, although that boogie style does give them point of difference – and no-one else ever played a bass like him anyway. This isn’t music pandering to any fashionable sub genre, but is all about getting out there and turning up the guitars and having a blast. Good old fashioned honest heavy metal.
