Cemetery Dance - Poser Junkies

ImageCemetery Dance were formed in the spring of 2012 in Athens, Greece, with band members active in the Greek heavy metal scene coming from bands like Nightfall, U.N.S.I.N., Nocta, Mopar and Skysent Lu. All members are heavily influenced from the metal - punk - hard rock era of the eighties and nineties and these form the basis of their sound, along with the need to be able to consistently perform live. This may be a studio album but it has a very live feel indeed, and it is no surprise to discover that their first release was a live demo, which was then followed up by an in-concert album. Heavy metal and hard rock are the basis of this, combined with a strong punk ethic and the result is down and dirty metal that has some elements of sleaze. It is punchy, anthemic, raw and in your face. The energy is permanently in the listener’s face and ears, and all I could do all the way was smile:  plus keeping on turning it up that little bit louder of course.

The album's concept is the 'window shopping' way of living, trying hard to look beautiful on the outside while we're dying inside. We hurry our lives into work every day, losing touch of the child in us, becoming miserable and mean to each other. In other words, we forget to live by the moment. The band's name Cemetery Dance, was also inspired by this concept. To my way of thinking, although I can understand where they are coming from, the name of both the album and band doesn’t really do them justice as this certainly isn’t what I expected when I first came across these guys. This is fun, first and foremost, something that I can happily play time and time again.
