Cave - Real Time

Kev Rowland

This was again recorded at Orb, this time in 2015 and 2016 (both are marked as 2017 releases but I don’t know which one was released first), this is very like ‘Mother’, except this often feels darker and even more like early Tangerine dream. This time we have fourteen songs (of course, all instrumental), many of which are quite shorter than the other album, and a running time that has extended to fifty-two minutes. At times this makes me think of Hawkwind, especially during “Are We Ready”, even though the only instruments are different synthesisers and electronic sounds and effects. White noise is used as an effect, and there is something quite compelling about the album that definitely keeps me coming back for more, even though I can’t really say why.

Their Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/soniccave/ where they do also have some videos. I have the feeling they will probably sink without trace if is that hard to get hold of them, and that is a shame as both these albums are worth hearing if you enjoy listening to electronic music that has nothing at all to do with dance.
