Blues Pills - Devil Man EP

Kev Rowland

ImageThe only problem I have with this EP is exactly that, it is an EP of just four songs, and I want an album! It is not often that I hear a voice that immediately makes me think of Janis Joplin and Maggie Bell, but Elin Larsson does just that. Here we have a deep soul voice that is belting out with a heavy blues backing in style that I haven’t heard from a new band in many a year. This is classic turn of the Seventies material, and it sounds as if it has been swept straight from there in the Tardis and brought into the current day with strong production but never a thought to what the current trends may be. It actually starts with Elin singing a capella, such is the belief they all have in her voice. But the band with her are no lightweights, and together they create an incredible sound. Bring on the album!
