Red Moon Architect are yet another Finnish act, founded by RoutaSielu keyboardist SakuMoilanen. Here he provides bass, drums and keyboards and brought in guests JuusoTurkki (guitar) and Frans Aalto (brutal vocals) and AnniViljanen(clean female vocals). This isn’t a very long album, just five songs at 29 minutes total length, so is it worth investigating? Well, it really depends on your musical taste as while there isn’t much of it, what there is really works. This is doom/death/atmospheric metal that relies heavily on the interaction between very heavy guitars, held-down extended keyboard chords and the vocals. At times it is very heavy and almost ponderous, but there is always a slight edge being provided either by the keyboards or the cutting through of a guitar solo.
It isn’t all gloom and doom, there are also some lighter atmospheric almost reflective moments that temper the heaviness as well as some touches of The Gathering here and there. Yet another strong release from Inverse.
