Free Fall - Power And Volume

Kev Rowland

ImageI listen to a great many different types of music, as I have very diverse and eclectic tastes. But, it has to be said that listening to some of these albums is more like taking a test in endurance as opposed to playing something for pleasure. There are times when a band like Art Zoyd, Can or some free jazz or complex prog is what is needed to fill a particular void, but when it gets down to it is there anything really more satisfying than good time rock and roll? Kiss will always be on my iPod, as will Motörhead, as there will always be moments when music like that is really what I need. Now I can add Swedish band Free Fall to the list as well.

This is down and dirty rock with more than a nod to classic AC/DC that is all about letting your hair down and having a good time. This is boogie rock at it’s very finest, with a rough edge to the riffing guitars that brings a smile to the face. In fact I don’t think it is possible to play this album without smiling as it is pure unabashed raucous joyous fun from the start to the last. There are nods to Cinderella and Hanoi Rocks among others, with a group of songs that is all about having a blast. This is guaranteed to make you want to turn the volume up just a little bit more, it’s only fair to let the neighbours know just how good this really is.
