Terror have built a reputation as one of the hardest working bands around with five albums and ten years of non-stop touring under their belt (currently on the road supporting Lamb of God), and they show no sign at all of slowing down or moving away from their hardcore roots. Eleven songs which clock in at just under 27 minutes, the tight riffs and snap of the snare drum is just what you expect while singer Scott Vogel is as mean and aggressive as ever. But, the heaviness has been somewhat sanitised and it took me a while to think who I was being reminded of when listening to this album; then it came to me, The Beastie Boys but without the hooks. Is that what we really expect from a hardcore outfit?
Sure, the angst is there along with the power and passion, but it just doesn’t come across heavy enough for me. I am sure that if I caught these guys in concert then I would be blown away, but this just doesn’t cut it even when played at the right volume.
