Sometimes it can be really hard to find out information regarding a band. True, it is generally a great deal easier now than when I first started writing reviews more than 20 years ago, but some bands don’t make it easy. If you go to Guerilla tree’s website (www.guerillatree.com) you will be able to watch a video of the song “Indocyanine Green” and details of how to obtain this album as a totally free download or pay 11 euros to get a physical copy. But if you want to discover anything about the band themselves then your work is going to be cut out for you. I think that this is a debut album, and that the band hail from Germany, but it has taken quite a bit of work to get that far! The line-up is René Krov (vocals, guitar), Sascha Trojahn (lead guitar, vocals), Robin Steffens (bass), Chris Müller (keys) and Robert Braune (drums) and they play an interesting mix of prog metal that has obviously been heavily influenced by the likes of My Dying Bride.
The eight songs are well crafted, with just a hint of darkness and feeling of sorrow that flavours each track. Opeth could probably be referenced a little as well, and the result is an album that is heavy both in terms of the metallic content and in the emotional. This is not music to lift the spirit, with Black Widow style keyboards and a general feeling of opression. Anyway, this is yours to obtain free from the band so what have you got to lose? Just go to the site above, and follow the instructions and you too could be playing what is to my mind certainly an interesting album although not indispensible.
