Tokamak are a French band, and I believe that this is their debut album, although it has been somewhat hard to discover much about them. What I can tell you is that the band was put together by bassist Marcel Gallimard, who brought in his two sons Rémi (keys) and Marc (drums), with the line-up being completed by guitarist Thierry Vidal and singer Jorge Dias. This is another album where the vocals are in their native language, French, and while I have no issue with bands not performing in English it does make it somewhat harder for someone like me to really get into the album (my language skills are limited to say the least).
Musically this is a combination of prog metal with prog rock and plenty of emotion and passion, but it doesn’t really gel, as if there is something missing. There is a dark side to the music which does work, but there is a lack of togetherness, as if everyone did a fine job on their individual parts but when brought together it just didn’t gel, as if the measurements were just slightly off on the blueprint. If you are interested in discovering more then visit their site at www.tokamak.fr (as long as you speak French or use Goole Translate as there is no English version).
