Ruindom was formed in summer 2008 at Valkeakoski, with a desire to recreate early 90’s old school death metal. After some demos and line-up changes they released their debut album in May 2012 and by the end of the year had completed another eight songs in readiness for this, their second album. Well, according to the press release this was deliberately produced with a ‘raw’ feel, with virtually no overdubs. Just one question arises from that decision: why? The sound is a mess, and the vocals are no improvement, and the result doesn’t get any better if it is played really loudly – a wall of mud is still a wall of mud. When death metal is at it’s best it is really visceral and brutal, which sadly this isn’t. Apparently “overpolished and clean just doesn’t fit in the bands menu”, but what about recording and producing something that people are going to want to listen to more than once?
