This is the third album from Finnish band Fear Of Domination, who these days describe their music as industrial shock metal. It is their first album with their new keyboard player, Lasse Raelahti, and he has definitely had a strong impact on the overall sound. They are obviously going to be linked with Rammstein, but these guys are also channeling elements of Slipknot and Fear Factory, while not going too far away from the death metal they started with. The result is something that is powerful and intense, with distorted vocals, strong rhythm section, crunching riffs and keyboards that can be soaring over the top, driving through the middle as if we are at a Chemical Brothers concert or providing sound effects. This is a incredibly layered album that contains a great deal of depth alongside the over the top brutality. But, they have also managed to have a driving beat that could see this being played at some of the more over the top techno events where they want something with real bite.
They have managed to harness a commerciality with strong guitars that are going to make them many fans outside of their native Finland, and overall this is definitely an album that is going to get a lot of attention. Over the top, bombastic, immediate and with plenty to discover, this is worth investigating further.
