Flintwater Express - Ain't No Time Machine

Kev Rowland

I was speaking to TeMatera one night about how his label AAA Records and studio Red Room was doing (and also wondering when his own band The Symphony Of Screams was going to get going again), and he asked me if he had told me about Flintwater Express. He had recently had them in the studio, and they had released four songs as an EP through Bandcamp so that people could hear the band. He then pointed out that the trio were only seventeen, which I must confess I find somewhat hard to believe, as there is no way that a band this talented and a singer with a voice as gruff as that can be just that age!

They describe their sound as “high energy kick-ass Rock ’n’ Roll”, and with a liberal amount of blues rock thrown in for good measure, that’s exactly what we have on offer here. This is a band that sounds as if they have been honed on the road, and that it was just a case of getting them to plug in and play. There aren’t any overdubs, this is just a trio making a hell of a noise, and if they are this good at seventeen, what on earth are they going to be doing in ten years’ time? There just isn’t the population density here in NZ for a band like this to survive, so if they’re serious they’ll end up in Europe, and if that’s the case make sure you see them, you won’t regret it. In the meantime, why not drop over to Bandcamp and pick up this EP?  https://flintwaterexpress.bandcamp.com. Rough, raw, solid and real.
