Released in 2015, this seven-track thirty-one-minute long album is presumably a collection of material that had been kicking around in the collection of Simon Godfrey (Tinyfish, Shineback), awaiting a suitable vehicle. Due to its very nature, this is quite a fractured set, in that there isn’t a cohesive theme throughout, but what it does show is just how Simon’s mind works in many different areas. There are songs that are complex, others that are far simpler, some that rely on gentle guitar chord structures, and others that almost drop into the realm of electronic. This isn’t something that I would recommend to anyone as a starting point for his music, but if you are already aware of his music then this may well be of interest. It is also available through Bandcamp, https://sigodfrey.bandcamp.com/album/black-bag-archive-vol-1. All the material is played by Simon, with no additional musicians.
