Forged In Black - Sinner Sanctorum

Kev Rowland

Having built a strong working relationship with Chris Tsangarides on last years’ ‘Fear Reflecting Fear’ EP, Forged In Black decided that when it came time to work on the next four songs, they would ask him to produce the next one as well. Released at the beginning of September, this quintet are producing an interesting type of heavy metal. While the four musicians are going down the road that has been well-trodden by the likes of Judas Priest and Rhapsody of Fire, singer Chris Stoz Storozynski is taking a slightly different path and has obviously been heavily influenced by the likes of Candlemass. Put the two styles together and you have Forged In Black. Their debut album was released as long ago as 2013, and since then they have released a series of EP’s and singles, but surely it can only be a matter of time until they are picked up by a label and get the support to release another long player. The twenty-seven minutes on show here make me think that these guys could well have a bright future ahead of them if they get the breaks. Given that they have already been touring with Breed 77, Savage Messiah, Praying Mantis, Beholder, Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, Neverworld, Alwaid and The Deep, amongst others, it can only be a matter of time.
