Peter And The Test Tube Babies - That's Shallot

Kev Rowland

In 1978 the 17 year old punks Peter Bywaters and Derek “Del“ Greening founded Peter And The Test Tube Babies in the small town of Peacehaven near Brighton. After a couple of rehearsals, they made their first recording “Elvis Is Dead” which appeared on the ‘Vaultage ‘78’ compilation of Brighton new wave bands. Radio 1 DJ John Peel loved the song instantly and produced a session, and the rest is punk history. Peter and Del are still there, some 39 years on, joined now by Nick Abnett (bass) and Sam Fuller (drums). This brand new album is old fashioned punk, as one would expect from a band that were there pretty much from the beginning. Pistols, Sham 69, even some Ruts, they’re all here with strong anarchic singalong choruses. If you like old school punk you’ll like this, if not then you need to pass swiftly by.
