Vorum - Poisoned Void

Kev Rowland

ImageThis is Vorum’s debut album, and their first release of any kind since 2010’s split with Vasaeleth, so has it been worth the wait? Well, that really depends on what you want out of your death metal. If you want strong riffs, a decent production, gruff growls and cheesy lyrics then this is the place. But if you want something that really lifts it out of the ordinary then you are going to be somewhat disappointed. It’s not that there is anything really bad with this album, it’s just that there is nothing here that really shines or captures the imagination as it has all been done so many times before. If you are always on the outlook for solid death metal albums then this is definitely of interest as they tick a lot of the right boxes, but if like me you pick and choose music based not on what genre it is but instead if it is an excellent piece of work then I’d probably pass this one by.
