N.D.C.I.C. - Tales Of The Lost

Kev Rowland

ImageNow, I was sent details of this album, and a download to play so that I could review it by the record label Inverse Records. But in the biography it stated that it was being offered free to fans so I went off to bandcamp and there it is, free for anyone. But given that the band greatly went into debt when connected with what happened to the band after the completion of the album, in that producer and drummer Tommi Lillman was found dead in his apartment. Since then the band have been through some line-up troubles as well and it is almost as if they want to draw s line under this, and get it out there to as big an audience as possible and see where they go from there.

In truth, they should be able to ride this album a very long way indeed as it is one of the best I have heard from the label, and something that is accessible and enjoyable the very first time that it is played. Now, I am not the biggest fan of The Disturbed and even walked out of one of their concerts as it was boring (although to be honest I had mainly gone to see support Trivium anyway), but it is obvious that they have had a huge impact on None Dare Call It Conspiracy, with “One Step Down” an obvious clone, while at other times they are more like Rammstein. Here is a band that always extremely heavy yet maintain a commerciality and accessibility that is somewhat surprising. They never lose their punch or power, hitting hard and fast, yet somehow managing to keep a radio friendly edge that should find them many friends. As I said at the top of this review, this album is free, and I heartily recommend it to all. Download it, spread the word, and let’s see if enough people get behind them so that they can move forwards and produce more great music like this.
