The debut album from this Polish band is generating quite a bit of comment within the Collaborator Prog Forums in PA at present. The “Heavy’ team have said that they will accept it within their sub-genre, but want ‘Crossover’ to have an opinion first to see if they feel that it will fit better within that sub-genre. If not then they’ll have it back as the agreement is that it is progressive, even if there is disagreement about which sub-genre will be the better fit. I’m the only one of the ‘Crossover’ team to voice an opinion so far, and have said that in my opinion it fits better in ‘Heavy’ but can understand why it might be viewed as ‘Crossover’ so will go with the majority call (the team contains five so there can always be a majority).
So, understanding why it can take so long for ‘new’ bands to be set up on ProgArchives aside, what about the album itself? Well, once you get past the awful name this is quite interesting. It starts very gently, and these quieter passages pop up within the album, and it gives a very different aspect to what happens when the band kick into gear, as when they crank it up it is almost as if it is not the same group at all. The music is always controlled, and never goes into the metal area, with good strong non-accented vocals.
Although not really neo-prog, it does remind me quite a bit of a lot of the prog that was coming out in the Nineties and the result is a good, safe, album that is enjoyable without pushing any boundaries. Once on the player it will stay there, but making the effort to actually put it on in the first place is something else.
