When and how has "The Sagarmatha Dilemma" idea started? Does it have any autobiographical references?
I met Maxime Jean during one of these conferences on the Everest Mt., which he climbed in 2004. He needed music for these films, and we had the idea of making a CD which talking about his adventures.
Tell me a couple of words about concept of your album.
This album is really built around the book ¨Dream or reality¨of Maxime Jean. I saw the movie on Maxime Jean ascension and I was inspired for the compositions of the album. It’s like a movie score.
How do you usually cooperate with Francis Foy?
What is first, the music or the lyrics? It is our 4th album together. Francis was my collaborator for the two D Project album. This association was so intense that we had to take a break from each other for a year between the two albums. We spent some sleepless nights and took some beers to arrange everything. Francis arrives with an idea and sometimes the music was made. So for one or the other, we made some nightmare for assembled that. The result, I think, is quite good.
Being the member of Red Sand and Sense in the past, do you concentrate on your solo career now or do you rather feel as the member of the group?
No, I am now concentrated on a solo career. A group dynamic is more difficult to manage for me. With Sense just to schedule a rehersal was a nightmare. Now we are three members, including Mathieu Gosselin, the only survivor of Sense. I just did not carry out two careers, the mass of work is too hudge, and being the main composer of the two projects, the risk of repetition are too high. I had been a lot of fun with Sense, for now I'm really the only captain on board.
How do you manage to bring so many famous guest artists on your albums?
I like to play with other artist. Michel Bilodeau has always good ideas to find right person. Obviously, artists are generous and do good job. They doing their part after hearing demos. I never had been refused from guest artists. Believe me, there will be more guest artists on the next album. Now this is my trade mark.
Coming back to music, where do you find the musical inspirations for The D Project music in general?
I have a lot of musical inspirations: when I was young I was listening to hard rock, jazz rock and later classic prog. That is why my albums are so various. I don’t like an album with a similar musical theme all the way. I had developed my sound, my personality from these sources.
Are you going to bring The D Project on stage or will it remain a studio project?
Recently I have played with Galahad in Quebec City . That was wonderful. Stu Nicholson sang with us. We have been successful of bringing D project from studio to the stage.
What are your plans for the future?
We have shows within the tours done by alpinist Maxime Jean on climbing Everest peak. This autumn we will be doing a large stage (1200 seats). We hope to play in Europe in a near future.
And finally, what would you like to tell to Polish listeners?
A big thanks to you Polish listeners who give their support. We will be very pleased to play in Poland shortly and have a trip with you in the marvellous world of rock prog.
